Deleting your account and data

How to permanently remove your account, what it wipes, and why it cannot be undone.

You delete your Rubric account from Account > Profile. Deleting is permanent and immediate: it wipes every report, your history and your stored data, cancels any active subscription, and removes the login itself. It cannot be undone, and Rubric keeps no copy, so export anything you want to keep before you start.

In short
  • →Delete your account from Account > Profile. It is permanent and cannot be undone.
  • →It wipes your reports, history and stored data, and deletes the login.
  • →It also cancels any active subscription. Export what you want to keep first.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Account > Profile and use the delete-account option there. Rubric asks you to confirm, because the action is permanent. Once confirmed, the deletion runs and the account and its data are removed.

Before you delete
Deleting is irreversible and Rubric keeps no backup copy of your account. Export anything you need first, using the CSV downloads in any report (action-plan.csv, pages.csv, broken-links.csv and sitemap-issues.csv). Once the account is gone, those reports cannot be recovered.

What exactly gets removed?

Deleting your account is a hard delete, not a hide. It removes:

  • Your reports and every score and issue in them.
  • Your history, including past crawls and your watch list.
  • Your stored data in Rubric's storage.
  • The login itself, the authentication user behind your email.

After deletion there is no account to sign back into, and no way for Rubric to restore any of it.

Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?

Yes. Deleting the account cancels any active subscription as part of the same action, so you are not left paying for a plan on an account that no longer exists. Note that cancelling this way is not a refund. If you are within 14 days of a payment and want your money back, request the refund first, covered in the related article on pricing and refunds, because once the account is deleted there is nothing to raise a refund against.

Should I cancel or delete?

Cancelling and deleting are different actions with different outcomes. Cancel if you only want to stop paying; delete if you want your data gone.

If in doubt, cancel first. You can always delete later, but you cannot undo a delete.

How do I export my data before deleting?

Because deletion is permanent, export anything you want to keep before you start. Open any report and use the CSV download buttons. The four exports are:

  • action-plan.csv — the ranked, phased list of fixes.
  • pages.csv — every page and its score.
  • broken-links.csv — outbound links that failed.
  • sitemap-issues.csv — problems found in your sitemap.

Save these locally first. Once the account is deleted, the reports behind them are gone and cannot be recovered.

Any share links you created (the tokenised /r/<token> links) stop working when the account is deleted, because the reports behind them are wiped. A share link only ever exposed a single report you chose to share, and it was noindex and private by default. Deleting the account removes both the report and the link, so anyone holding the link afterwards sees nothing.
